Getting started with SEO.
This is a guest post by AffiliateTips.com. Head over there to find out more about affiliate marketing and use their top lists to compare affiliate programs in all niches.
The term of 2008 is SEO, search engine optimization and ”experts” are making tons of money helping companies optimizing their websites for search engines like Google. We are simply going to save you that money and help your affiliate websites increase its traffic and earnings by mentioning two important search engine optimization factors your affiliate business can’t do without.
What is SEO?
Search engine optimization is a concept of online marketing based on the fact that highly ranked websites in Google get a heck of a lot more visitors than low ranked websites thus making much more money on their website advertisements. If your website is ranking within the top 3 on Google’s result page on a popular search term, you will to 98% certainty be able to make money of your website. To optimize your website for this scenario is what SEO is all about. Improve various aspects of your site, rank high in Google, get more visitors and earn money on online advertisements/affiliate marketing. This is what you should do:
Get backlinks
According to the mythical algorithm of Google’s search engine links from other websites to yours is vital in order to rank high. The more powerful and already high ranking sites link to your site, the better. In Google’s eyes it adds credibility to your site. If those links are linked according to popular keywords in your segment it will boost your site. For example, you’re running a website about major league baseball and you manage to get a link that says major league baseball from MLB.com (the official site of major league baseball). According to Google this is like MLB.com is vouching for your site.
Getting good solid links to your site will definitely increase your rankings. How you get those links is SEO territory. Either you focus on white hat SEO; improving your content so that people hopefully voluntarily will link to your site. Other ways include making deals and exchanging links for content or money. This is not Google approved and is therefore called black hat SEO. The best way is always to create a website that in one way or another stands out and offer visitors something unique.
Choose keywords to optimize for
Ask yourself the question what keywords you want your website to rank high for? Use keyword software like Wordtracker or KeywordDiscovery to find out which keywords are mostly searched one at the moment. Another option is focusing on keyword phrases, often many keywords in one phrase or sentence, based on the fact that people no longer search on Google with single keywords like “baseball” but try to specify their search by using word combinations like “find game in major league baseball”
If you master these two elements of SEO you are well on you way and will see a difference in your affiliate earnings. But if you discard SEO as yet another voodoo scam of the 21st century your affiliate business will suffer. SEO is your only ticket to a successful career in online marketing. We suggest you get o board!

Part II- Good monetizing techniques for affiliate marketers
May 26, 2008 by Wayne
Filed under Affiliate Marketing Tips, Featured, Headline, Marketing Resources
This is the last part of the series and they could be a little tricky. Part I resembles some introduction and is highly recommended for beginners.
Build your own paid advertising programs.
You can build up your own advertising program, like in-text ads and Ad Sense. Most high profiled bloggers out there simply write up a sheet explaining they are selling ad space and keep it out there for people who may be interested.
Ebooks Giveaway
Purchased ebooks you don't need might as well be considered as your bribe. Ahh whatever you call it as long as you have the rights for that ebook, then go give it to them. But if you can write well, then do it but if you can't make a 5 page report, get some help on ghostwriters.
So you are an expert? Sell it.
If you have some hidden talent on something, you can sell it. I know of a 'guru' who made to earn huge bucks out from this technique. Just think of what you can do, whether its offline as long as you have the passion for it then you can sell it.
Wanted: Donation account
Hmmm, you can have this technique too. Although, not effective like non-profit sites do. But who knows there are people out there who are willing to give.
Write a blog for another company
Writing for others can be very rewarding. Depending on your capability, uniqueness or topic, this will be another awesome source of income.
I hope this is useful for others, if you have some additional techniques on how to monetize your blog: please drop me a line here. You will be credited for it.

Google Ad Sense
You must have seen this. This program will allow you to place ads from Google on your website. When people click on the ads you get a commission. It is a simple way to make money. Be careful not to click your own ads otherwise your account well be banned. A bonus to the program is that the ads are tailored to your website content. Here is a program might of interest to you, it's called Adsense Big.
Join affiliate programs
This is one of the basic monetization at hand wherein you can join affiliate programs that are related, but not competing with your products. You can then use these affiliate programs to build up your website and your sales.
Sell banner ad space on your home page
Just got this site a PR4, perhaps some advertisers are willing to put up there ads. Advertising space can well get your bills paid of course you need to work on the rank so you do well in marketing your site or blog.
Sell links
Same as above but be careful to not oversell yourself so that you start being more of a link site than a business site.
Directory
This is a cool thing to startup with. With directory, you can start by offering free listings then once your directory starts getting some recognition you can start to make the listings paid spots.
Sell articles you have written or that you own
This might work for some, but for others, this might be a very huge task. You can recycle your old articles and sell them but be sure to let the buyer know it is a recyled article.
Tagging sites There are a lot of tagging sites now, you might as well need to do a little work with this but every effort is worthy.
There will be a second part on these techniques, be sure to watch it coming. As of now focus on these techniques as they worked for me.
Viral Marketing Giveaway will surely make any beginners learn Affiliate Marketing.

Note: The XML-Sitemap format was introduced in 2005 by Google and adopted in 2006 by YAHOO, MSN Search and Ask.com so thats why it’s often called "Google Sitemaps".
