How Do I Import Videos From My Camera On To Windows Movie Maker?

By Wyndell T. On July 9, 2009 Under Video of the Week

Every time I try using videos I’ve uploaded on to my computer on Windows Movie Maker, it won’t let me import it. I upload the video from my camera on to my computer and save it in the “My Videos” folder. Then, when I select “Import Videos” on Movie Maker, the file doesn’t show up. I have a Nikon Coolpix camera and a Dell laptop. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Hi Lin,
There should be a setting on your Nikon that can change the types of files your movies are saved as. If not, you can always try a file converter online.
Also, just as a helpful link, here’s the Movie Maker site that explains how to transfer videos from your devices to your computer: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using…
    Hope this helps!

Windows Movie Maker might not recognize the file type. If I remember correctly, Nikon cameras save video in a .MOV format. Try using a program that can handle .MOV file types like Sony Vegas.
